Busby Marou
They covered Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” on Triple J’s Like A Version around six years ago which was the first I had heard of them, that cover still gets played on my stereo pretty often. Busby Marou is two friends, busting out harmonies and playing their guitars while telling stories. This one’s already sold out so hopefully you’ve already scored tickets (if you haven’t, Shannon Noll is playing at Bar on the Hill the same night…).

Live on the Lawn: Japanese Wallpaper w/ Ali Barter + Gretta Ray + The Treehouse Children + Split Feed + DJ Lawson + UoN Band Comp Winner
I have been waiting for something this exciting to happen at the university again ever since Courtney Barnett and a line-up of Milk! Records acts took to the stage at Bar on the Hill last year. There’s an impressive mix of young live acts, DJs and street food favourites. Headlining the event is Japanese Wallpaper, who did a recent collaboration with Allday on his track “In Motion”. Ali Barter, who’s responsible for tracks like “Girlie Bits” and “Cigarette” will also be there along with Triple J Unearthed winner Gretta Ray! The Treehouse Children and Split Feed have both released Eps this year, so have plenty of fresh tunes for you to enjoy. Gates open at 4pm, make sure you’re there early to support the locals.
