Despite Adrianna usually being apart of the trio that make up the Adrianna Mac Band, this lady will be performing at Winter Live: Unplugged solo, but still has a lot up her sleeve to offer Newy audiences. I mean, with a voice like that - who needs company anyway?
Adrianna's voice is one that projects far and wide, it is powerful, beautiful & one hell of a force. With her vocals and her skilful abilities on the piano keys, this lady owns her talent and isn't afraid to step away from the band she often tours with.
That being said, company is always nice and band work has become quite the business for Adrianna and her crew (Joshua Barnett on guitar, piano & percussion & Nick Bukey on drums) as they tour the region performing at local events, weddings & functions. They have quite the busy schedule & to even have Adrienne on the line-up for Winter Live: Unplugged is a special treat for Newy audiences. So, if you ever want to secure the Adrianna Mac Band - be sure to get in touch here.
In-between touring with the band, Adrianna has even been featured on a track with TASC - a super exciting venture for this vocalist who is branching out and finding her feet outside of band work - a scary venture for many artists who perform in bands. You can check out the debut single, 'Disappointment' down below.
This Saturday, Adrianna will be performing at Hotel Delany from 2pm, where she will be playing a mixture of originals and a selection of covers with her own personal twist. It will be intimate, soulful and full of passion - something you can pair with a fancy drink from the bar or even a beer ('cause we don't discriminate here). You won't want to miss this powerhouse in action.
Ahead of Saturday's big festivities I got to have a chat to Adrianna about her sound, her favourite Newcastle acts & how she'd like Newy's music scene to turn back the clock. To get the full scoop, keep on reading below...
How would you describe your music? Try 5 words or less, if you’re feeling creative.
Eclectic, soulful, connected, passionate.
What can people expect from your performance at Winter Live: Unplugged?
People can expect to see me immersed in my music and playing a soulful 2 sets with a range of original songs, as well as covers done with my own spin.
As a musician/artist in Newcastle, what changes would you like to see occur in Newcastle? Do you think changes need to be made to Newy’s current music scene?
I would love to see Newy back to where it was 10 years ago with venues booming with bands and live acts. I think we need to really push through this hard time we have incurred lately with the amount of complaints made by residents living in entertainment precincts.
Live music is essential in this brilliant city and we have so much talent to share, we must push for these venues to continue to book acts and hope council makes some changes.
Do you have any favourite local acts - if so, who & why?
Tim Rossington - my number one Newcastle muso and dear friend.
He takes me to another level of euphoria with his music and I feel so connected to him when I hear him play. I think he has this divine ability to draw an audience in and once you're in, you stay there. SO much love for him!
If you were to suggest a shop, a foodie hot spot and a must-see location to someone in Newcastle - what would they be?
The Rock Shop yo! That place is super cool and vibes galore.
Foodie hot spot would definitely be Nagisa Japanese at Honeysuckle, their sake and sushi are delicious! (agreeeeed)
A must see location in Newcastle would definitely be the tower (*cough* penis tower *cough*) next to Queens Wharf Hotel (for giggles) OR Fort Scratchley - that’s just plain beautiful and the view over the water is stunning.
When and where can we catch you for Winter Live: Unplugged?
You can catch me at 2pm out the front of the lovely Delany Hotel.
