Mayfield; a suburb that seemed to be the brunt of every joke and always overlooked. 2017 has certainly been a year of growth for the area, and things are only looking to get better in 2018 thanks to one of its newest additions, Equium Social. The sister restaurant of Talulah, Equium Social is another space helping to bring change to the suburb of Mayfield. An open and airy cafe full of good, wholesome food, locally roasted coffee and the opportunity to view some superb local art, it truly brings together some of the best things our local scene has to offer. If you were to Google the meaning of Equium you would find the words ‘amateur composer’, something that fits perfectly with the current location of the café. Equium Social currently sits in a space that for years was called home by many local artists thanks to its music studio just out back. Another quirky addition to the café is their DUGUP space; a corner of antique wares, relics and curiosities just wanting for you to browse and take home. Owned and managed by Jacques Deloraine, who is full of passion and pride for not only the café but the people of Mayfield, Equium Social is open everyday until 3pm, so you know you always have somewhere to grab a bite to eat or get a caffeine hit.
