Can I get something off my chest first? A huge thank you to Lauren, the Marketing Coordinator, at Belmont 16s for inviting Ryan and I to attend the media launch for the new 'The Terrace' inside the already amazing Boat Shed Bar + Galley. It is really nice to be acknowledged as a media group worthy of attending stuff like this and it honestly makes it all feel worthwhile, so thanks!
Bumping into some other cool kids like the team behind Newcastle Live and finally meeting the crew behind Crave Newcastle is always a great start, plus having a pretty fantastic spread of craft beer available on tap is always going to get extra points in my book! (although I was a little sad that the Murray's Craft Brewery 'Fred's IPA was out). I heard that there is a real focus from the beverage & cellar team to supply beer with a growing focus on local NSW microbreweries and it certainly shows, plus it is fantastic to hear a local venue investing in supporting local trade and a lot of other venues could take note of this approach.
We sat down with the girls from Crave and Carly & Tresne (apparently they were on My Kitchen Rules, but more importantly they are doing some great work training and empowering young adults) and there were certainly a lot of laughs to be had. Crave have just launched a Snapchat account (find them!) and we believe we made the cut on some recent snap stories... Should we get a Snapchat account? ...Carly and I shared contact hacking approaches and even how to reverse image search on google... in between jokes.
I'm no #Foodie so I'm not going to elaborate on how fancy the the food was (it was!) but I had the Duck, Aged Beef Tenderloin and Baked Quince Tart, that were all stellar. Seriously, if you want to read about the food follow @cravenewcastle on Instagram! (the two babes at the front) But even as a classic boy with no idea about food except what I like, I am sure this was delicious and surely that is enough?
Cheers to The Boat Shed Bar and Belmont 16s for having us! Top night, top venue, a fantastic new space for a new generation and really anyone looking for places with good food and top shelf beers where the service is great. We'll be back, hopefully we see you there!
