Shop Local This Christmas! / by Kian West

Honestly, not just for Christmas, it should be an all year thing. Wouldn't you rather see your friends success than some rich fat-cat you don't know? We've made it nice and easy this year with a couple of last minute suggestions of places to shop till ya drop 👌

Blackbird Corner & Cooks hill Bookshop - If you haven't been inside Blackbird then you are missing out on a treat. So many glorious little gifts, magazines, hand-made clothing, bags, candles and other assorted goodies. With the Bookshop just a doorway away, you can get some gold within the one building. While you are on Darby, consider a coffee at Core or Glee and maybe some beans as a gift?

Abicus & Ramjet (Darby St.) - Thinking about clothes for that someone special? Then grab them something a little special in these boutique goldmines.

The Emporium - Hidden inside the old David Jones building in Newcastle Mall you will find a good dozen incredible shops from local makers. Wander through, chat with the people that created and have a story to tell on Christmas day about where it came from.

The Impossible Markets - Saturday 10th December @ The Rooftop Westfield Kotara

Olive Tree Markets - December 15th @ Civic Park

Hunt & Gather Markets - December 17th @ Pacific Park

HAMILTON - Good mates of ours, the crew at Yardsale on Maitland Road have some cool options. It's kind of like a camping/adventure shop, but it also has lots of other weird and wonderful bits & pieces.

Right near them is the new Suspension Espresso shop for all your Coffee related needs. While you are in the neighbourhood, stop by Black Pug Records. Sweet sweet vinyl records.

Gallery 139 - Or really, any of the Independent Galleries of Newcastle. Grab some art! Impress people with your cultural skills and knowledge.

Chester's Pet Bakery - That furry friend of yours deserves a treat. Go on.

Lake Village Arcade - Chesters is just at the entrance, inside the Arcade you will find some gorgeous shops like Kadia Jewellery and Katwalk Boutique. Of the Esplanade in Warners Bay.
