‘The Cracked cup’ is a perfect name for a café in a place such as Kahibah that is perfectly imperfect. Out the back of the highway at Charlestown is this gem that serves epic pizzas by night and sensational Glee coffee by day. A big group of us comfortably took over their simplistic dining space and ordered 1 of everything brunchy. The food was generous, well priced and as good as you’d come to expect from the inner-city places with the added bonus of $13 avo smash meaning you can have your brunch and a mortgage too!
Coffee wise it was smooth and not too punchy with the perfect froth to liquid ratio on the cappuccino that got the tick of approval from our own off duty barista which is no easy feat.
New owners Matt and Catherine have really invested in their new fresh approach, modernising the menu with an app to order online and a lovely breezy laneway courtyard that would be perfect to share their gourmet homemade pizzas on a balmy night.
Cracked cup closes at midday to reset the counters and knead the dough so we advise getting up early if you like to linger otherwise drop in for your coffee and a yarn with this family business that knows its town well and is worth the trip outside the usual hipster eat streets to try it.
