Heard about Midnight Movers? These suave gentlemen are playing at The Stag soon and you are going to want to see them!
I got the chance to ask Adam from the band a couple of quick questions...
Tell us a little bit about the band?
Adam: Midnight Movers is a three piece rock/blues band with a strong emphasis on groovy dance rhythms.
When did you start playing together? Have you been in groups before?
A: We started playing together in mid 2015. We've all played in various bands such as Heartattack and Vine and Afro Moses. We've also played with each other in a number of session gigs so we decided to get together and see what happens!
Who are your influences?
A: We're influenced by a large range of music. We all listen to different styles of music from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Soundgarden and you can hear those influences come through in the songs. But, as said previously, instead of playing classic blues swing or shuffle numbers, we decided to add a dance rock element to it. We drew from artists such as Daft Punk and The Music to form rhythm section ideas.
Have you got any local favourite artists?
A: Definitely. There's such a broad range of styles coming though Newcastle at the moment. Truman Smith band were the last band we seen that kicked ass.
There is a show coming up?
A: The next one is at the Stag Hotel on July 21st with Nick Connors. Another brilliant Newcastle talent. Hopefully, we can release our single on the night!
What should people expect?
A: An enegetic live show!
What is next?
A: We are currently recording our first EP with Dane Baldwin. Hopefully it will be released in the coming months. A promo clip for the first single is also on the cards.
