With an enviable glasses collection, a stellar wardrobe and a voice that could take Cupid’s heart, Milkmans Daughter (Sara Sandford), is a sure fire fix for your Saturday afternoon chill-session and one not to miss at Darby Street Live.
In what I can only say is a brilliant stage name, I think Sara is the type of musical offspring the music world needs and one that really is like no other. So, I guess the name fits - kinda. 😝
Sara's music is the kind of music that gets you through the lowest of your lows. It pulls you out of the gutter in those moments of despair and wraps you in a cashmere sweater kind of warmth, when all feels doom and gloom.
Her voice is a truly enigmatic experience that enlightens and fulfils the soul. I’d relate it to another artist, but that would do a disservice to Milkmans Daughter's music, which to me affirms with the saying, ‘perfectly imperfect’. A compliment of the highest regard - believe you me.
In a set that will bring you a few covers of your favourites, as well as some personal scores from an E.P to be released soon, Milkmans Daughter will provide something intimate and soothing, like that bottle of red wine on a winters night.
Now, if I can find a way to relate one's music to red wine 🍷, you know that I’m onto something good - so make sure you get amongst it.
Ahead of her set at the health food store, Natural Tucker, I got to speak to the lovely lady behind Milkmans Daughter about what she loves about her home turf as well as what her music is all about.
You can check out the full interview below...
How would you describe your music? Try 5 words or less, if you’re feeling creative.
Cry into your pillow vibes.
What can people expect from your performance at Darby Street Live?
A preview to my upcoming E.P. and a few covers.
Who’s your favourite local music artist & why?
Probably Shrimp! It's good music when it makes you want to your clothes off and dance, super funky. Can also catch them later on Darby Street Live at the Headphones Project.
What do you love about Newy's music scene?
It’s so broad. There are so many genre’s of music being produced locally, but everyone sticks together! It’s beautiful.
What is your favourite thing about Newy - what would you recommend to the tourists out there?
The culture! All the business’ are still open down Hunter Street, so I recommend a stroll, or grabbing a drink or two at The Koutetsu.
When and where can we catch you for Darby Street Live?
I’ll be playing from 3:00-3:30pm at Natural Tucker.
