If you’ve seen any of the work from the Newcastle based publisher 2hrsnorth, then you’ve probably seen some of Dylan Smyth’s photographic art. Dylan is a contemporary visual artist and photographer, who’s photomedia work focuses strongly on the built environment. With both Fine Art and Industrial Design (honours) degrees under his belt, Dylan loves celebrating the unique elements in everyday life that feature in his local community. Having exhibited both regionally and nationally, locally he is probably most well known for founding 2hrsnorth. In 2015, this photography collective launched a 12 book series that documented all the suburbs of the Newcastle area and the varying architecture within each, with the books featuring photographs from a range of local photographers, including Dylan himself. The online store also stocks a range of prints that showcase some of Dylan’s work that captures Newcastle’s classic natural settings and architecture. You can see some of Dylan’s photographic and illustrated works for yourself over on his Instagram @bydylansmyth or grab yourself a copy of some of the work created by the 2hrsnorth collective on their website.
