Taking a step away from the world of vintage fashion this week, we’re going to delve into some bargains that you can pick up for the other parts of your home, many of which you can find at the well known antiques store Coliseum Antiques. Located in Mayfield on Maitland Road, the building is home to 26 different shop or antique dealers, all of whom have different bits and pieces to sell, from china, vintage cameras and record players, to furniture, clothing and other little knick knacks. After buying the building back in 2002, it was in a bit of a dilapidated state to say the least, after being closed for more than 20 years. With a bit of hard work, the owners of Coliseum Antiques brought life back to the iconic building, so much so that it won The Landcom Lower Hunter Heritage Award. Some of the current shop owners include B’s Collectables, run by Brian, who has been collecting unique items for years. His shop items include some awesome antique movies items from the 20s right through to the 50s, vintage cameras, coins and badges, as well as royalty items. There is also The Vintage Spot, run by Sarah and Jenny, who sell an eclectic range of furniture and clothing items from the 1880s through to the 1980s. So if you’re looking for some cool, unique pieces to add to your home, or just feel like a browse, be sure to drop in to Coliseum Antiques.
