Ahead of their Album launch event this Saturday we had a quick chat with Adam from Bad Luck Kitty to get an idea about what is going on at the show.
Adam, Tell me a little bit about the band?
Adam: We're a 3pc Neo Rockabilly Band heavily influenced by Rockabilly/Psychobilly revival of the 80’s. We created our sound out of necessity, couldn’t really find the energy and grunt in the local and national scene we were looking for so we formed BLK. Tom Blake (Tommy Gun)- Standup drums, Rusty Carr (Rusty Rebel)- Double Bass and myself, Adam Gear (The Captin)- Vocals Guitar.
How long have you been playing together?
A: Just under 12 months. Our first gig with this lineup was Bluesfest 2016
So you have an Album out, where did you record it?
A: Spinlight Studio at Glendale. Shout out to Rhys Zacher, he was great. Recorded the whole album over 3 stinking hot days in January he was a machine. We had it recorded, mixed, mastered and duplicated in a 10-day period was heaps of fun.
You have your album launch this Saturday at The Stag & Hunter Hotel, whatcan people expect?
A: Balls to the wall Rockabilly. Were playing a full 3hr night so will be playing heaps of tracks that have influenced our sound as well as the album in its entirety. Hell we're even doing a rockabilly Batman theme song now…
A: Yep! Albums, shirts, you name it!
What’s next after that for Bad Luck Kitty?
A: National tour. Were currently planning this now. Next stop is Canberra in May then off to QLD later on in the year. We have the recording bug now so another album is already in the works too!!
So there you go! Catch them this Saturday at The Stag & Hunter Hotel. Event Details HERE.
