WE TOOK A QUICK MOMENT TO CHAT WITH TIMMY HILBERTS
By Kian West
Tell us a little bit about yourself Tim? Hi! well, I'm 21, I've always lived in Newcastle & I've always loved music. I'm an experimental, piano playing, synth loving, music producer. & in my spare time I enjoy cooking & trying new things with gadgets & everyday sounds.
What sort of music do you make? It always has to involve something that expands me musically. With the album I just finished, the 1st song contains the sound of a tap dripping in reverse & a glass cup, spinning around. The 2nd features orchestral arrangements, the 3rd is extremely electronic & upbeat. Basically, I want to make music that catches your attention & keeps you guessing. Which involves lots of hours at a computer, programming, but I like it that way. :)
When did you start playing music? My mum was constantly playing piano during my childhood, so at 6 years old I demanded she teach me, I ended up completing all my music grades at 14, so I've had plenty of time to develop what I do. :)
Where is the next gig? I'm not particularly fond of gigs, I don't have any local shows planned, but I tend to do a lot of internet streamed events, for the majority of my fan base, in the US or UK. Album launch is on the 4th of October at http://www.spreecast.com/events/album-launch-live-stream I noticed you offer your Stems up for producers to use on your website, tell us a little bit about that and Why you have done this? I was trying to think of a way to expand my fan base in to clubs & one way to do that is with dance remixes of your songs. Even if they don't make it in to clubs, if someone wants to remix your material, I wanted to make it easy for them to do so, without having to isolate vocals & find instrumental tracks.
Anything else Newcastle Mirage readers should know about you? I'm very active online, I love to meet & work with all kinds of people. I'm working on new material all the time & all my songs are available (Along with some free downloads) to stream on my SoundCloud, including my new album 'Integration' http://soundcoud.com/timhilberts
